About Heliogravure: Heliogravure, also known as photogravure, is a refined 19th-century intaglioprocess combining photography with copperplate printing. Renowned for its deepblacks, soft tonal gradations, and painterly detail, heliogravure was widelyused to reproduce important academic and museum paintings. Because eachimpression is inked and printed by hand from an etched plate, heliogravures areregarded as true fine art prints rather than mechanical reproductions.
