Description

Female Portrait–Charlotte Hoffman–Acrylic on Board–Mid-20th Century American Art This is an original mid-20th-century acrylic portrait by Charlotte Hoffman, a regional artist who lived and worked in New Rochelle, New York during the 1950s–1960s. This work comes from a folder containing several of her paintings from that period. Although little biographical information is available about Hoffman today, many of the works in the group bear original gallery price tags and matting, suggesting she actively exhibited and sold in local New York galleries. While Hoffman’s landscapes typically reflect a gentle Impressionist touch, this expressive female portrait shows clear Expressionist influence in its color treatment and brushwork, revealing a dynamic and emotional side to her practice. This painting is in good condition. The surface shows light wear and minor scratches consistent with age, but the artwork remains vibrant and visually strong. ________________________________________ Details • Medium: Acrylics on board • Dimension: 20 X 16 in • Date: Circa 1950s–1960s • Condition Report: good –minor wear and scratches; unframed ________________________________________ Disclaimer I have conducted thorough research to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of this work to the best of my ability.
