70s-Dali Museum Opening Poster-Spring Explosive-Phyllis Lucas-Fair Condition
These large offset-lithograph posters were produced by the legendary Phyllis Lucas Gallery in NYC in 1974 to celebrate the grand opening of the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, Spain (Teatro Museo Dalí, Dalí’s own museum). The image is based on Dalí’s 1965 watercolor painting Spring Explosive. The Phyllis Lucas Gallery had a long-term partnership and friendship with Salvador Dalí, and in the late 20th century they published numerous limited-edition lithographs and posters based on his original works.
Posters in this lot are in fair condition. The edges and corners may show minor wear, minor tears, handling marks, and light water stains. The paper shows toning consistent with age.
